Stacking the Shelves | #22

Stacking The Shelves is all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts and of course ebooks! Click here to go to Tyngas blog.

ARCs

Artemis / Andy Weir / Emma in the Night / Wendy Walker

I have already finished Artemis. Didn’t like the main character but I loved the science and space aspect of the book. I got Emma in the Night from NetGalley. I don’t know much about it other than it’s a mystery and it comes out August 8th!

eBooks

Pointe / Brandy Colbert / Join / Steven Toutonghi / A List of Cages / Robin Roe / Not A Drop to Drink / Mindy McGinnis /  The Strange and Beautiful Sorrows of Ava Lavender / Leslye Walton / Black Dawn / Mallory McCartney

A lot of books I’ve put on hold appeared in my virtual bookshelf! I already finished A List of Cages and loved it. I am currently reading Pointe and Not A Drop to Drink. Both great so far. Pointe is like ballet mixed with a mystery which I think is a neat concept (only 9% in so I can be totally wrong about this plot!) and Not A Drop To Drink is such a neat concept (wow I’ve already said that but it’s true!) dystopian-esque and makes you very thirsty! Join is hella science fiction and I need to be fully conscious to fully comprehend what is going on there. I might return it to the library and take it out a later time. Summer for me right now is all about short and easier to read books, hence, Ava Lavender. Lastly I saw Mally McCartney in an Indigo today and she packed up her booth before I could inspect so I downloaded her book Black Dawn from Amazon. It’s her first novel and a YA fantasy. I’m intrigued!

Audibooks

Brave New World / Aldous Huxley

I tried giving this a-go in eBook format because the concept is really interesting but I just couldn’t sit there and read it. So I got the audiobook from the library and I have gotten through a lot more of it (2x the speed helps!) and I can listen to it while I do the dishes and put away the laundry!

What have you added your your shelves?

  2. Oooo, I remember reading Not a Drop to Drink – four years ago? It was before the pub date. I didn’t love it but I thought it was interesting. McGinnis’s books always are. 😀 I hope you enjoy all of your new books!

Have a wonderful weekend, Danica. =)

    • I picked it up because it was just 300 pages and an interesting concept. The lack of water being brought up makes me so thirsty while reading it!!!

I hope the rest of your weekend is lovely, Alyssa! 🙂

  5. So many great books this week! I just finished Black Dawn and thought it was pretty good overall. I liked the fantasy component, but I wished there had been slightly more character development. I keep seeing Emma in the Night everywhere, and I’m super curious about it. I love mysteries so I’ll be looking forward to hearing your thoughts on it. Happy reading and have a great week, Danica! 🙂

  6. I hope you like Brave New World. I read it in print, and it was really hard to comprehend at first. I got through it and started to understand it, but it took quite some time. I hope I reread it one day so I have a better grasp! If Pointe is what you think it is, it sounds awesome! I’m adding it to Goodreads. 🙂 I own Not a Drop to Drink, and have yet to read it! I’m planning on reading it in the fall though! Great haul. 😀
