Top Ten Tuesday | Underrated Books of the Past Year

heading-top10

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created at The Broke and the Bookish.

This week the topic is “Underrated/Hidden Gems You’ve Read in the Past Year”. This is my first time participating in this meme here on my blog. I always see a lot of postings on other blogs and thought that I would give it a try this week. I don’t know if I can get to 1o but we’ll see!

top10-underrated

  1. The German Girl by Armando Lucas Correa – this came out last year and is his debut novel, it was so moving and emotional!
  2. The Shell Collector by Anthony Doerr – everyone has read his book All The Things We Cannot See. I think people should read this little collection of short stories that he’s written.
  3. Burial Rites by Hannah Kent – a book set in Iceland and historical fiction!!
  4. Night Film by Marisha Pessel – an amazing mystery/thriller!

Wow! I could only come up with 4 books that I’ve read in the past two years that I deem underrated/hidden gems. I need to start straying away from popular opinion books and search for the unknown!

What’s on your list?
