Monday Musings (5/16)

Musing Mondays is a weekly meme that asks you to choose a prompt to answer.
I’m currently reading… Shades of Doon by Carey Corp and Lorie Langdon
I just finished reading the second book in the series Destined for Doon. I recently was accepted to review the fourth book in the series Forever Doon that comes out in August this year. I thought it was the third book so now I am quickly getting through the series. They are very young adult but they are good fast-paced reads if you ever want to immerse yourself in a magical Scottish world. I guess I would describe this series as Outlander mixed with magic for young adults. I’m excited to see where this book goes as the second one ended with such a cliffhanger!
Random question: What is the most overrated book?

Hmm. I think that there are a lot of books that are overrated. There is way too much hype surrounding it or a lot of people rate a book really highly that wasn’t necessarily the greatest read. But I think that the most overrated books/series is The Mortal Instruments. I got through the first novel and it was very eye rolly and whiny.

What are you guys currently reading? What is your answer to this weeks random question? Comment below!

  1. Hi Danica, I've heard lots of good things about the Destined for Doon Series I'm glad you have all of them so you can work your way through them! I hate it when you hit a cliffhanger ending and have to wait ages for the next book.

I've not read City of Bones yet but I received the set as a present. I'm a bit apprehensive to start it just because I'm worried about the hype… I will go into it cautiously I think πŸ™‚

    Great Post!

I haven't read any of the books from the Doon series, but I've always thought the concept sounded interesting.

I keep forgetting about this series. I want to dive into Scottish lore.

But I am trying to focus on reading the books I own, so it will be a while till I can get to this series. I look forward to your reviews.

    Now about your Q.

The Infernal Devices is my favorite, but because I love Jem. This story actually was really well written and the characters had lots of depth. IMO πŸ™‚

But TMI…I agree. TMI was an interesting read, because the world is interesting, but I don't really care for the characters or the story. I only finished the first half of TMI b/c I wanted to know if “they” were or weren't (spoiler..you know). I only finished the 6 book series after the last book came out with lots of convincing from my sister. I read them only because of Brother Z. He is my favorite character of all the books in this world and is the ONLY reason I continue to read TDA. I am reading Lady Midnight right now and really can't stand Emma. These characters are very one dimensional. The hype is overrated.

But people can say that about my favorite series Dark Hunters and Chronicles of Nick. It has its flaws since it is the first pararomance series, so it took a while for the book biz to understand this type of genre. But what starts as a simple romance series with greek myth and vampire-ish people, has turned into hrs of plot theorizing with other fans of this world. Total bookgeekingout!

I also think Fangirl is overrated. I have no interest in reading the Carry On spin either.
