Friday Book Beginnings is hosted by Rose City Reader and the Friday 56 is hosted by Freda’s Voice.
So Friday Book Beginnings you choose the book you are currently reading or the one that is closest to you and share the first few sentences. For the Friday 56 you simply turn to page 56 or 56% on your e-reader and share a sentence or two that you enjoy. Then just add maybe a synopsis about the book in case others are interested. That’s it!

The Mime Order (Bone Season #2) by Samantha Shannon
Published: January 27th, 2015
Synopsis:
Paige Mahoney has escaped the brutal prison camp of Sheol I, but her problems have only just begun: many of the survivors are missing and she is the most wanted person in London…
As Scion turns its all-seeing eye on the dreamwalker, the mime-lords and mime-queens of the city’s gangs are invited to a rare meeting of the Unnatural Assembly. Jaxon Hall and his Seven Seals prepare to take centre stage, but there are bitter fault lines running through the clairvoyant community and dark secrets around every corner. Then the Rephaim begin crawling out from the shadows. But where is Warden? Paige must keep moving, from Seven Dials to Grub Street to the secret catacombs of Camden, until the fate of the underworld can be decided.
Beginning: It’s rare that a story begins at the beginning. In the grand scheme of things, I really turned up at the beginning of the end of this one. […] You’ll have to wait and see how it ends. Welcome back to Scion.
Page 56: “Their woes might be important,” I said coolly. “Isn’t it your job to answer summons?”
“No. It’s my underlings’ job to deal with the herd. It’s my job to keep you all in line. The petty problems of this syndicate are important only if I deem them important.”
Thoughts: I can’t wait to get into this series again. I love how it was opened and the page 56 was luckily not a spoiler for me and I am interested to see how it pans out. It seems like there’s a power struggle going on or about to go on.

I read The Bone Season a long time ago but I wasn't really into it, and I don't know if I'll ever continue on with the series. I might, if it seems like the later books are of interest to me.

Haven't heard of the books or the author before. It's probably not a series I'd read, but I do like that opening. (So true about most stories not beginning at the beginning!)

I have not heard of either book or the author – both new to me but it does sound interesting – I'll have to check the first one out. Here's my Friday meme
