This weeks topic is books that you Did Not Finish. It’s pretty rare for me to detest a book so much that I don’t bother reading it. I know that authors put a lot of work into their books so I usually see this book til the end. This list this week is going to feature the one book that I currently put on my DNF shelf and the other four are going to be books that I have put down and will eventually go back to reading them in the future.
In no particular order.
5. Kaleidoscope Hearts by Claire Contreras
This is the one book that I put on my DNF shelf on GoodReads. It’s the only book that is currently sitting on that shelf. It received a lot of 5 star reviews but it just wasn’t for me. Too typical. Not my kind of book. I was not going to waste my time with something that made me cringe so badly.
4. A Game of Thrones by George RR Martin
I feel like I’ve been trying to get through the book for over two years. I always want to try and keep reading it or pick it back up off the shelf but I can’t. There are way too many characters that the chapters bounce from that you may not see or hear of another character or plotline for 100s of pages. I had seen the first season of GoT but didn’t continue watching because I wanted to read the books first… That turned out well didn’t it?
3. Alice & Oliver by Charles Bock
The subject matter is very heavy and realistic. I received the arc through NetGalley and I got about 50% of the way through it. It deals with the raw emotions of a new, young family dealing with the mother having cancer. I had to put the book down for the time being.
2. Vanity Fair by William M Thackeray
I had read most of this book for an English course a long time ago. We had to pick a classic novel so I chose a book with 700 pages because I wanted to seem intelligent. Haha. It was great the 500 pages I read. But when making my report I totally just watched the Reese Witherspoon movie adaptation of it. I really want to finish this.
1. World War Z by Max Brooks
I purchased it before the movie came out. I haven’t touched it since the movie came out. I find it very interesting but it is a very dense read. It’s the science behind the zombies not all the action like you see in the movie.
