I found this on Bookworm Book Reviews and loved the concept of the two weekly challenges together. Friday Book Beginnings is hosted by Rose City Reader and the Friday 56 is hosted by Freda’s Voice.
So Friday Book Beginnings you choose the book you are currently reading or the one that is closest to you and share the first few sentences. For the Friday 56 you simply turn to page 56 or 56% on your e-reader and share a sentence or two that you enjoy. Then just add maybe a synopsis about the book in case others are interested. That’s it!
Lada despises the Ottomans and bides her time, planning her vengeance for the day when she can return to Wallachia and claim her birthright. Radu longs only for a place where he feels safe. And when they meet Mehmed, the defiant and lonely son of the sultan, who’s expected to rule a nation, Radu feels that he’s made a true friend—and Lada wonders if she’s finally found someone worthy of her passion.
But Mehmed is heir to the very empire that Lada has sworn to fight against—and that Radu now considers home. Together, Lada, Radu, and Mehmed form a toxic triangle that strains the bonds of love and loyalty to the breaking point [x].
This sounds interesting – I like the beginning and the 56 definitely shows that she has become ruthless. I like the fact that it's about Wallachia and about the Sultan and that these are Vlad's children. Thanks for visiting my Friday meme

Visiting from Book Beginnings.
The BB kind of ticks me off, to be truthful. Vlad is probably one of those men who 'blame the woman' when the gender of the child is not what he wanted. Ugh.
And there was such enormity in so few sentences on the Friday 56. Going to my TBR list!

That reaction in the beginning does not sound good….foreboding? Thanks for sharing, and for visiting my blog.

The name “Vlad Dracul” gives me the impression of this being a vampire story, is it?
The 56 snippet was pretty compelling, I'll be keeping my eye out for this book.

It takes place in the 1400s so your hitting the nail on the head with the “blaming the woman”! Definitely add it to your TBR!

I've heard people describe this book as a mix of Game of Thrones and Vlad the Impaler (if Vlad the Imapaler was a female – Lada). I've yet to get the vampire impression but Lada sure bites people a lot lol.
Thanks for stopping by!

I like the idea of the opening, with Dracula having a kid, but I hope it stays that fascinating. Vampire stories I love, but I admit, I am tiring of them too.
Happy Sunday!

Dracula's child? I wish I weren't so suspicious when I see yet another vampire or undead story!
