This weeks topic as you can probably see in the title is top 5 badasses. Two of these came to mind really quickly and the rest I had to think about for a bit. I find that the secondary characters are usually the ones that are “badass” (although most of the ones I picked are main characters). It’s mostly women but I did find a male choice. I hope you enjoy my list (although it’s probably similar to a lot of others). I’m interested in reading what others put.
1. Katniss Everdeen
I feel like she will be on a lot of peoples lists. She volunteers for her sister which has a poor outcome of survival. She is the face of the revolution. She is hella skilled with a bow and arrow. She has a very bad ass vibe to her with everything she does. I was happy to see the character come to life on the big screen.
2. Johanna Mason
Obviously she’d be on the list as well. Both in the books and in the films Johanna has a very tough girl vibe. She’s snarky and doesn’t give a damn about what anybody thinks about her. If she wants things done her way, things will be done her way. You’d want her on your side if you every got into an argument. Speaking of sides you would not want to get on her bad side.
3. Celaena Sardothien
I’ve only read the first book in the Throne of Glass series but her character is unreal. She has no one to help her get through life and has been making all her decisions for herself. She’s an assassin and very fit when it comes to all the tasks she had to perform during the competition. I would definitely befriend her.
4. Hermione Granger
I feel like most of the characters I put on here I thought of “bad ass” as “tough” but with Hermione it takes on a different connotation. Being a genius is super bad ass. I wish I had that study ethic and time management as it seems that she is able to ace all her exams and manage to solve the mysteries of Hogwarts. Note to everybody: Being nerdy is badass don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.
5. Jamie Fraser
I felt the need to include a man on my list and also felt the need to include Jamie Fraser. You’re probably thinking, “Well, isn’t Claire pretty badass? She travelled back in time and all that…”. Yes, yes. But if you flip the situation around Jamie fully accepted the notion of her being from the future, he is in hiding as he is wanted for something he did not do but cannot prove, he’s good with thinking on his feet when bad situations arise, he’s badass with farm animals and lastly his demeanor in general. Now I want to finish Dragonfly in Amber…
