The last topic for January is Top 5 Disappointing Eye Candy. Basically, books that you thought were beautiful when you picked them up but they were in fact “awful” or “disappointing”. Like always, I have no particular order for these. I don’t think I’ve hated or loved any of these any less.

5. Doon by Carey Corp & Lorie Langdon
As you can see the cover is very pretty. I saw this book talked about a lot and I always wanted to give it a read because when people described it they mentioned Scotland and mystery. I was sold. But I didn’t like it as much as I thought I would. It was very YA. The two main characters voices reminded me of popular teenage high school girls. It was annoying. However, I did like the concept. (This reminds me I need to do a book review for this).

4. The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins
The cover is appealing and I was seeing it on book stands everywhere (even in the drug store) so I got it for a deal on my kobo and gave it a go. In short, I didn’t like it. It was overhyped. (Read my full review here).

3. Landline by Rainbow Rowell
As I’ve said a bunch of times on this blog I like minimalistic designs. I also really enjoyed Fangirl by Rowell so I was excited to see this on BookOutlet. The marriage issues seemed like a high school relationship just with kids added to the mix. The concept was neat though. (Read my full review here)

2. Never Never #3 by Colleen Hoover & Tarryn Fisher
The cover looks simple and it has Colleen Hoover’s name on it. I, however, did not enjoy this book. It felt very rushed and was a disappointment to me. The first book in the 3 novella series I really enjoyed. The second one a little less. And this one just kind of ended and the big plot twist was kind of “meh”. (Read my full review here).

1. Delirium by Lauren Oliver
I can never spell the title of this book correctly. The first book in the Delirium series. I saw the books everywhere and I picked up the entire series because I heard a lot about them and the covers are quite nice. It was a fast read for me and I found the concept interesting. I just didn’t feel that emotional bond to it that others seemed to get. I hear that the rest of the books in the series just kind of go down hill from there but I want to give them a go.

I've seen a lot of mixed reviews about The Girl on the Train. It sounds like an interesting concept, but I don't know that I'd pick it up.

I am still on the fence about reading Doon. I just don't know if I will like it the cover is beautiful though.

If you find it at a discounted price I'd say pick it up or just go see the movie to be honest. I think it was just too similar to Gone Girl in some concepts 🙂

It is really really YA in the dialogue but the concept is really neat!

So many of these books I have heard good things about so it's interesting to see the other side. I've been wanting to read Doon and Landline for a while but I might look up some other reviews first to see how I feel! Definitely agree with Delirium as well!
